1965 Olds 425 V8 Hotrod Magazine November 1964

Crower Enduro Stainless 1.6 Ford Rockers came in.
Very Nice.
1-10 scale they are 9.8-9.9 Perfect like New.
Maybe 1 hour run time on a New Engine.

Correct 1965 Olds 425 Crankshaft & Water Pump pulley Found, Purchased, Paid for.
Just like in the Hotrod November 1964 Article pictures of engine when New.
Shipping out Monday from Wisconsin .
 
Purchased my 3 Crower Enduro 1.6 Ford Rockers new. 7/16" stud size. Have a full set of 16 then.
And Purchased a full set of new Crower Sure Lock Rocker Arm nuts ( Polylocks) 7/16" , Short 7/8 " tall to fit under stock valve covers.
About 1 week or so to Receive.
Summit Racing.

Have Mickey Thompson Olds V8 valve covers put away.
Taller than stock.
All should clear.
Real early set because the underside of covers have casted in 330ci - 425 Olds.
Places them made from 1965-67.
Have the Olds Rocket Logo also on them, Very Rare to find with them. Touch of Old School Kool.

I solved the mystery of what Rocker Arm studs to use on my 1965 Olds 425A engine.
Viper V10 -Late model Magnum V8 5.9.

Crane cams makes the special 3/8" -24tpi top x 3/8"-16 threads per bottom.
Expensive.

Purchased from Summit Racing along with Comp Cams Olds Guideplates.
Crower goodies too with the order.
I can use my Crower Enduro stainless 1.6:1 Ford 351 Winsdor Rocker arms I have.
Also have the Short Crower polylocks here.

The original valvetrain parts for 1965 olds 425 are long gone.
Called nationwide.

Past budget.
Typical hotrod issue.
Working and got the $.
Have full adjustable valvetrain. No Factory Olds V8 had it.
Doing the Valvejob & assembly myself.
Goal is get it done this month.
 
I am not into Buick V8 engines Grumpy.

The Olds 425 was supposed to be Oldsmobiles Greatest V8 engine ever according to many.
Find Out.
My late Bud Bill liked Olds Rocket Power too .
 
The Rod to Stroke ratio of an Olds 425 is identical to a Pontiac 400.
The Pontiac V8 uses the the same rod bearings as the 1948-53 Rocket 303 ci V8, Clevite 758 P.

Forged Rods and Forged Crankshaft.
Heads are High Velocity style respectable CFM airflow.
Has decent engine parameters the 425 Olds.
 
The supply of Buick 455's around here are Zilch now.
I sometimes see them listed on Chicagos Craigslist.

Pontiac 455's Complete are getting pricey again .
I am glad I bought my 3 455's when I did and had the chance too.
 
The Valvetrain layout is Krazy on the Buick Nail Head V8 Grumpy.
The Rocker Shafts work in Reverse direction from what we are used to.

There is a Strong Following for Nail Head Buicks.
Vintage Drag Racing and Gassers are still going Strong.
I like it too.
Some I can afford still.
 
I am going to make the Engine Swap Tomarrow - Sunday Grumpy.
425 Olds V8 into my 1963 GP.
Start at 6am and see if I have it done by Sunset 6pm.

A headgasket let go on my Suburban.
Take time to fix.
The Burban is Big so I have to fix it outside .
I will do a valvejob myself on the SBC Heads myself while apart.
Have the heads Van Norman resurfaced too.
 
I think I can get it done in 1 day Grumpy my 1965 Olds 425 install into the '63 GP.
Turn Key.
Feeling Super Strong.
Doing non stop in frame engine overhauls at work. Detroit Diesel 60's again.
Do the swap outside .
Fag Luberals can not do it.
Only Maniac Mechanics Can on Donald Trumps Side.
