496ci revamped

Not valvetrain float.
But it's close.

SOMETHING called Valve Spring fuss point.
It's present.
Check seat pressure on the car.
Need a Moroso on the car Valve Spring seat pressure tester. I have it.
About $120.
 
It's optional.
But I prefer Titanium retainers.
It's expensive.
Used to buy a set for $200-300.
Now $500-600 set of 16.
Got China junk avoid.
Crower Cams Ti. retainers are best.
 
I like valve lash caps too.
Only weigh 2-3 grams each.
Toss weight low.

Valves are huge in BBC race heads.
Heavy.
High toss weights.

It's a pac spring AFR part # 8016
144 seat 403 on the nose 6300 to 6500 rpm 650 lift, hydraulic roller springs
Which was what Howard's recomend
So I paid extra $50 to have AFR set those up on my new heads when I ordered them.

I ordered a tool from jegs $95.00
To check it out.

Could it be hydraulic lifters collapsing?

Hey guys, my plan is to test all the springs
First before I take it apart to put new retainers and locks on.
What is spring weight from one to the other need to be , like +- a pound 2 pounds.and if so can I shim them on the back side to balance them?

Might see +/- 5 lbs seat pressure or more.
Ideal want +/- 0 zero pounds seat pressure variance.
Setup up for exact seat pressure each valve.
Zero variance ideal.
+/- 2lbs seat pressure be Ok.

7k -9 k Danger Race zone need +/- O zero variance.
 
Remember not to push high rpm.
Cam chosen last year not meant for it.
Engine built for longevity Grumps plan.

Not Street Outlaws No Prep win at all costs.

Float a Roller cam and lifters will blow up.
Engine all instant destroyed in seconds.
No second chance with Roller Cams.
 
 
To obtain +/- 0 lbs seat variance each spring seat has to be hand machined in.
Heads off the car.

So you will be working with Tolerances.
