My Chevelle build and spot to Rant

..... before I do the rear end or gonna have major traction issues. I can smoke it well into second from a rolling start right now.
Grumpy always says " IF YOU CAN,T SMOKE THE TIRES AT WILL,FROM A 60 MPH ROLLING START YOUR ENGINE NEEDS MORE WORK!!". I say there is a much cheaper way, buy smaller tires !!! :p

THATS BIG TIME CHEATING AND DEFEATS THE WHOLE IDEA!
you need to be able to smoke the standard street driven tires from a 60 mph rolling start, by the simple act of tromping on the throttle

Those Isky Cams work better than any Dynomotion or engine simulator predicts John.
And you picked a Hot profile yourself.
Exact as what I do and will do again with 455's #1, #2, &#3.

750 is on after making a frosted flakes box into a gasket for the top plate. I really need to get the O2 installed so I can pick up the proper jets and needles. I think I need a little less accelerator pump. I have it on the to hole which gives it the largest shot. Would kick ass there at the drag strip but not on the street. It wants to launch like crazy. Hopefully more to come tomorrow will also be tuning the electronic choke. I love taking stuff apart and putting back together let you get so much better of an understanding of how it works.

I have a GM 8-1/2" -8.5" 10-Bolt Posi unit here John.
28-Spline axle shaft unit.
Its made to use bolt in retainter axle shafts or Use the C-clip axle shafts.
Its in excellent shape.
Its from my old 1978 Buick Electra that had a 403 Olds & Turbo 400 Trans.
I added the Posi unit.
Rebuilt prior by me long time ago.
Royal Purple 75-90 w Gear oil lubricated when I used it.
Car would smoke the Right rear tire for blocks at will from the 403 I built.
After installing the Posi unit, both tires spin for 200-300 feet max stomping on the gas fast.

2.41 gears used.

Sell you the Posi unit at a good price.
Shipping should not be too bad to you in NY.
Ring gear still bolted up. And Pinion gear there too if you want also.

Those Olds V8 engines are Torque Monsters.

Only a Built Pontiac 455 can top Them.& HP Excellent too.

Definitely interested Brian but won't have any free cash till after Christmas.
I can hang onto the 8-1/2 " Posi for You John.

O2 sensor installed got my idle afr set properly smoothed out that idle start jump it was having. Did not mess with the distributor bushing yet. I will get that bushing done next and get the timing totally squared away. I did notice that under cruise the wideband is reading super lean to the point it is not on the gauge but off the gas it goes to reasonable AFR. Hmmm

Trip to work today got to see a lot better the wideband working under different conditions. Seems the lean mix is under really light throttle goes away with no throttle and goes away under load. I am going to put some permatex exaust sealant around the bung just in case of a pinhole the way I had to weld it was far from ideal also was using flux core wire. But the also need to tune the electric choke in a little better it is running way too rich so no help in the morning. Lunch time I am hoping to get to the distributor bushing it will be dependent on how long it takes to run to pepboys and back. It's amazing how much being out of tune can effect the drivability of the car.

Bushing in but nut needs to be tightened will happen at 2pm ran out of time at lunch. Got the permatex exaust sealant for the bung will apply at 2pm also. Something is still acting weird in carb not sure whatc it is yet but will hunt it down. Want to make sure I am getting proper readings before buying jets or needles for fine tuning. Will pop the needles out quik and spray carb cleaner at the jets and pull the idle screws and also spray carb cleaner. I will adjust the choke first to see if that is what's reeking havok on me. It seems to at idle sometimes go super lean then want to stall out. So it acts like there is something I might have missed when cleaning should have soaked the body in carb acid. I will try my favorite cleaning method of allowing gas and air to try to work it out of a full open jet.

Sometimes clipping a Half a coil off the Eddy power piston springs do the trick John.
Sucking air in throws the wideband off too yes.

I doubt it's the step up spring it is running lean it will idle perfect at times the it will lean right out lose idle and stall other times. I have tomorrow off so I will get to mess with it then.

Found this video on my phone of the day I fired up the cam break in. So I uploaded it to youtube. Watch "Isky solid Cam Breakin" on YouTube
Isky solid Cam Breakin: http://youtu.be/5aka5hXZ5vo

When was the video taken, was it before or after on very black plug photo you
posted on page 8??? The audio does sound flat like a cylinder or two are not firing.

I hear a high frequency sound, any idea what that is?

It was the first day I fired it after getting the cam in about a month ago. Before the gas soaked plug. It is much better sounding now and better sorted out. The whistle you hear is no gasket between carb and air filter.

So the last two days drove the daily driver family sedan to work. I feel lost during my break and lunch times also known to me as test and tune lol. But I think it is almost time to put her away till spring. I would be driving it but little broke this week and the 30mpg will allow me to make it payday. I feel a HP withrawal even started putting together a list to rewire the whole car a whole lot cheaper than these prey on muscle car guys prices. I have decided that I need to get a notebook together. I wish my wallet could keep up with my mind and research. I caught some old episodes of phantom works the other day and was in awww on the fact people have the money to get some of this work done. The sunbeam and the wifes fiat he put 12000 into the fiat to make it a safe car for the wife man I couldn't imagine not being able to turn a wrench or be able to design a system. A good friend of mine younger but reminds me of a younger me reminded me the other day that not everyone has what it takes or the experiance to do what we consider easy. Another coworker thinks I'm crazy cause I will do stuff like change my distributor bushing during lunch and finish it during break in the parking lot. I was even joking about it and stated imagine if I forgot to go finish that and left to go home.
I did on tuesday get the o2 sealed up and it did make a difference on the readings. The idle circuit is still not running properly and might have to pull the carb out one more time if that happens it will get soaked in carb acid and a real gasket set installed. I just hate the idea of throwing money at it but I might just rebuild both the carbs over the winter. If fo no other reason I will be able to get more money for them to buy efi parts.
