Planning a new 383 build that is now going to be a 400

I have had excellent results with Alto Red Eagle Frictions and Kolene Steels.

Deaing with frictions 1/3 rd as big as 4L80E & TH400.

Throw every trick in the book at it you can afford for a 200R4.

image.jpg Working on the bellhousing flange, got one side done. The top of the casting is off center, don’t think that will matter. I used a Sabre saw for most of the cutting , and a hacksaw for hard to get places.

image.jpg That’s all for today, getting a little warm, reminds me I need to get a window AC, if Rick is gonna help me build this tranny!

Rick machined drums and parts to eliminate plastic thrust washers and install Torrington needle bearings in his 200R4.
I imagine he will have all modded parts ready for you Bob.

Don't let him Get Drunk till the Job is done.
Cherry Blossom.
Issues well documented on his thread.

You guys go through hell for 1 more gear overdrive.

T400 just run it .

That’s not all, first gear ratio, the consistent change with each gear, and overdrive. 700 R4 has big drop in ratio from 1st to 2nd, and only has .7 OD gear. 200-R4 has 2.76 first. OD is .67.
700r4 is 3.08 first but drops to 1.63 , about a 1.5 drop. 200- 4R is 2.76 but only drop 1.21 to 1.55. So you see I have put more thought into than just the overdrive.

I don't notice much in the 87 Corvette.
It's light.
I built the 700 R4 2010. Threw ever mod trick at it.
It's geared tall 2.73 gears in the Dana 36.
It burns rubber like crazy if want to.

The Tahoe has a 4L60E.
Electronic shift 700R4.
I feel the 1-2 gear spread. It's heavy at 5000 lbs. Vortech 350 moves it easy. 3.42 gears.

Gp TH400 feels awesome. Close ratio.
Like a Muncie 4 speed gear spread but auto.
3.23 gears.

Build it. 200R4. See if you like it.
Cruise Ok.
Drag Race gamble. Every upgrade is a good thing in overdrive transmissions.
Just costs alot of money.

Rick knows enough from experience to get it right 1st time.

Now please stop posting to let others give their opinion. This is my thread and I value all of the members opinions, I don’t want to get rude!

The long side of the angle will have multiple holes to raise it on the engine stand. I will post a pic later once I have it on the engine stand!

Took the pan off and removed the electronics and the filter. The pump slid out but was stuck. Rick, you do have to take the pan off, the filter slides into the pump. Also a couple other things hookup to the pump.
