renegade intake? for cross fires

Its the Thermal coefficient expansion of aluminum on aluminium that makes SBC water necks hard to seal.
Problem area on Pontiac V8 too.

Non issue on.my 65 Olds 425. Water neck.is cast iron.
Tripower Pontiac V8 water neck is cast iron too. No leaks with cheap paper gaskets.

I'll pick up a couple to have on hand.
Another issue is my intake is nicely polished, I'm sure that's not helping things...

And after catching up on my research from earlier this year I decided to pull the trigger on an EBL flash from Dynamic EFI.

Realized a typo, car engine temp hits 230 not 130.

It does great when on the freeway, but when stopped it starts to climb.

I should have the new fan later today, luckily i already wired the car for the pusher fan.

TEMPS CLIMBING WHEN THE CARS NOT MOVING BUT FALLING ONCE THE CARS UP TO SPEED,
IS USUALLY A GOOD INDICATOR OF LACK OF SUFFICIENT AIR FLOW OVER THE RADIATOR FINS
Yes. My 84 TransAm is like that. No grille at all and completely packed engine compartment (wires, hoses) and no way to let
hot air to escape. As long as the car is moving, there is an airflow. But come to a stop and temps start to soar. Especially getting caught in
a traffic jam in the summer. That is why I'm removing the computer control and its associated wiring and hoses, the A/C, and is also why
I got that Ram Air hood. I will also be adding an aux electric fan for those times that it might run hot (or the fan belt breaks).

The last image is close to what I want my engine compartment to look like when I'm done.

Along with the temps my oil temp is getting up there...

My 84 does not have an oil cooler, i was also looking for that oil filter cooler mentioned in one of the links, and it's no longer produced.

I'm now running valvoline vr racing oil.

How hot is to hot for the stuff?

The hottest oil temp i saw was about 260f while i was having some fun on some city roads... :)

Also while i had everything apart this winter i cleaned my ac condenser and the radiator, then did a detailed fin straightening on both.

I also have to say again how much more fun the car is.

On the way home from a stand still i took off and blew past a line of cars, everyone in the dust, borderlining on totally unsafe :)

Watch Ebay Gibbles.
C4 Corvettes being parted out.
The Oil cooler shows up time tp time.
Its on my 1987 Corvette Convertible.
My car has the Z52 package.
Oil cooler standard equipment .
Oil temps never get above 207 F in my car.

I hard wired the Electric fan in my 1963 Grand Prix to run all the time with ignition key on.
On my Corvette its ECM Controlled.
And an over ride toggle switch is there.

Both cars have the Same Flex A Lite Electric fan. #398 Syclone. 2,500 CFM.
Works Fantastic .

I got the new thermostat housing, and yup hose size is to large.

Seems so weird that manf dont list that...

So i took my oem housing and did some cleanup and some mild lapping.

Then finally i broke out the soda blaster from my aluminium cuddy boat project and did a detail cleanup, then sanding, and finally polishing on the Harbor freight buffer (to match up with the intake).

Reinstalled with the new gasket, and car back together with the new pushing fan installed.

Today I'll give it a good run to see if it's doing any better.

I also need to upgrade my water pump, it's a standard waterpump.

I'll pick up a proper pump soon.

And if still it runs a bit warm I'll look into an upgraded radiator.

The one i have been looking at is a dewitt, and it's nearly 500...

I'm way over budget at this point, so i need to wait a while for that one...

The other one I'm thinking about is made by champion, i see they run about $150 on ebay...

I also downloaded and installed ebl flash programs and tuner pro.

I loaded up a bin file that should be a close reference for my setup with 80lb injectors and noticed some of the fan controller options...
So I'm thinking I'll visit some mild rewiring to utilize that...
I'll start a new thread when i get there :)

Money spends fast dont it Gibbles ?
$5,000 -50,000 can be spent in 1 day building cars.

Dewitts is OK.
I think they are over rated myself.
Champion radiator sounds like Champion Spark plugs USA.
But it is actually China.
Somebody I know cheaped out when I was on Corvette Forum.
Raved about how great it was.
Really about like stock OEM.
Problem is no one Rates Radiators by HP Horsepower Cooling capacity but Griffin.

Be- Cool & Griffin are the best I think.
But not made for the C4 Corvette by them.
There are universal fit Griffins. Priced right, $150-225.00. Drag Racers dont care. They are used to Fabbing.
Griffin did make a C4 Corvette radiator in the past.
2 of them .
1984-1989.
1990-1996 , ZR-1 DO1990-1995 same radiator.

1990-1996 , ZR-1 DOHC 1990-1995 same radiator.
Both were rated to cool up to 800 HP engines.

I bought one of those Big Griffins back around 2012 from a CFC4 member in Utah.
He drove his car through the desert with daytime air temps 120-130 F.
Said his 1990 TPI Corvette never overheated. 200 F water temps all the time.
Sold his car but kept the 800 HP Big Griffin radiator.

You wan the Edelbrock Victor TPI Reverse rotation water pump.
Special made just for 1984 Crossfire & 1985-1991 Tuned Port Corvette Engines.
I bought one for my 87 Vette back in 2008.
