renegade intake? for cross fires

Yeah, I'm running vr1 amd i still have break in additive in there.

I confirmed vr1 is still good and ranks up there with m1 at that temp.

I have some new noises, but i think its my alternator.

Coing will be my priority right now, i also think my radiator cap is toast and bleading off coolant, but not pulling any back in.

Last thing i need is to have this thing blow up in my face again lol

I have been told that I'm a bit blunt my self, nothing wrong with it.
I call it honesty my self ;)

You're right, good night sleep makes things more clear.

This is actually the first time i have had a radiator cap fail on me, but I'm sure that's what happened.

Right before i started getting really hot i was having a really good time, keeping the rpm in the 3k+ range, exhaust system has a really good sound the higher the rpm is plus the power is fantastic.

Found a new trick to getting people to move right, rev the engine, and people move right.

Hear that trick from a coworker headed to vegas, corvette comes up behind him, and revs his engine... Yup works like a charm!!

Later I'll run the engine with fresh oil and give it a good listen, if the old car sound i started hearing is still there I'll start by pulling the belt.

If still there it might be the main crank bearing.

If it goes away i know its one of the accessories.

I know my ac compressor is on it's way out also, and the alternator is old.

Everything got hot, very hot. But the car got me home even if the coolant was pinned at 299, right as i got off of the highway the oil was on it's way up.

Highest oil temp i saw was 314!

Our C4 Corvettes are capable of doing what none are others can do.
Changle lanes 100-150mph with a Flick of the wrist on the steering wheel.
I don't even bother revving the engine.

Try & take time to read Grumpys links when You can.
They explain a lot.

Snap a Few Photos here soon.
Show you what I use for radiator caps.
Bullet proof.

Good Morning Gibbles.

Yes. pull the main Serpantine Belt.
Spin pulleys by hand.

Main bearing spun in a SBC Sounds like a Mouse Squeaking.

Dead thud head too.
Oil pressure will go from High 40-80 psi then drop 20-40 psi then back to normal.

One weak area in SBC. Mains are small.
Big Blocks have larger mains.
Can Full load beat snot out of.
Comes back for more.

SBC Can do it also. Built right.
C4 blocks pretty tough.

The Factory C4 oil Cooler TPI Style is the best bang for the $ On the street.
Dinged up O-ring seat you can straighten out with pliers carefully .
You want to make sure that the O-ring is included.
Its not reproduced by Fel Pro Gaskets. Its Viton Silicone. Seal is reusable .
2 -special bolts also needed .
Clock & locate the Oil cooler.

The oil cooler showed up on 1984 Crossfires original .
Very rare option in 1984.
All 1985-89 TPI Corvettes with Z51 & Z52 handling option had the oil cooler stock & a Heavy Duty oversized Radiator.

1990-91 TPI Corvettes had no oil cooler.

1992-96 Corvette LT-1 &LT4 Had no oil cooler.
Factory filled with Mobil 1 synthetic oil.
All they recommended.
1990-95 DOHC ZR-1 32 Valve Corvette had a special Air to oil cooler mounted up front of radiator. And required rubber aluminium lines.

With the TPI C4 Oil Cooler you also need the special Through Tube center retaining nut.
Same oil cooler was used on TPI Z28 Camaro & Firebird Trans Am & Trans Am GTA.

Also the coolant hose & fitting that screws into drivers side of block where the 3/8" pipe thread drain plug normally resides.
And there is also an aluminum crossover water pipe.
Could use heater hose today or AN Race fittings & braided hoses.

I found one with the crossover for about 170...

I'll keep my eyes open, there is also a corvette only junkyard not to far away from me, I'll check them out when i have a chance.

And i got a chance to check over the engine, it sounds normal again, and i suspect i was hearing the waterpump crying...

This weekend will be ebl flash time, and if i have the time i have a proper water pump and cap on the way.

Don't be stupid and waste all that money, time & hard work because you can't wait to replace a couple of known bad parts.
Philly says it best, "There's never enough money to build it right, but there's always enough to build it twice!"

Ok water pump has been replaced with a proper for the corvette.

I spent i dont know how many hours yesterday converting the ecm plug from card to pin style, i painstakingly soldered and shrink wrapped each pin.

The first 40 pins i even reviewed the wiring diagram to see where it routes, what it does and color, after that i lost interest... lol

Dynamic Efi sent me a pin conversion cheat sheet/chart.

Very helpful!

I added a copy of the cheat sheet amd overall diagram to my manual for reference later on.

I have the car running pretty good, i spent some time last week learning what each function does and made some tweaks to some CFI bins i downloaded.

I have it running pretty good right now after a pretty short learn cycle, but there is still a slight pulse when crusing at low rpm.
