THE PICTURES ARE NOT REALLY CLEAR ENOUGH TO JUDGE CONDITION WELL, BUT FROM WHAT CAN BE SEEN IT LOOKS ABOUT TYPICAL FOR A HIGH MILEAGE sbc CAM
(sorry about the caps I just realized that was on)

ok thanks. so it should be ok to put it back?

also when i am ready to put it back in what are some things i should do?

like I said theres no way to tell from the pictures if the cams re-useable, if you had any difficulty removing any lifter chances are EXCELLENT thats NOT a RE-USEABLE CAM when a lifter starts to wear enough that the lifter base gets flat and starts to burr, its almost always due to a cam lobe thats started to wear excessively, your going to be FAR better off installing the cam I linked to earlier in the thread with NEW LIFTERS and LOTS OF MOLY CAM LUBE

Id suggest the ERSON
E110020K as it will work correctly with your current set-up and boost hp about 30hp over the stock cam

specs>> 275/278 209/216 .435/.455 112

ID also at least think about use of RHODES LIFTERS, they will have a noticeable ticking sound like solid lifters at idle but they make the slightly larger duration cam run similar to the stock cam at under 3000rpm, making it far more street friendly with stock rear gears

well i went to a motor shop and they said my cam was very bad. he said some lubes were bigger then others and some were smaller from being worn out .so they want too sell me a cam and lifters for about $80 which i think would be the stock kind. but i want to know is when i adjust the valve do i have to them in a certain order or does it matter?

ok thanks. yeah i was reading them and i udestand it better. but i want to know that since i already have the motor torn down would it be much more work to replace the head gasket? if i do will i have to do some other thing or adjusting if i remove the heads?
thanks so much

if the head gaskets are not leaking I would NOT remove the heads, its just extra work, unless theres a REASON you want to pull them, like a close inspection, a valve job or your going to replace them...

ok great. thanks.. saves me work.. i was not thinking of keeping the car long. maybe selling it but the cam and lifters the engine shop wanted to sell me were $30+ for each, do you think its worth it? they said there new.

$30 for a cam and $30 for lifters is real cheap! I doubt your getting anything thats even near being what most guys would think is a quality set of parts for that price, but its your car, look at it this way, they want to make a profit on parts, that generally means 30%-50% , unless they had old parts they just want to dump, do you think they could buy a cam or lifter set for $20 each?...I don,t

hi today i going to buy the cam and lifters but while i am at it i think i should get new gaskets for my stealth manifold. which ones to recomend for a good price? and do i also need sealer type gasket for the front and back of the manifold?

hey paul this is what my gasket look like. it looks diferent from the one on your link. does it make a difference?

in most cases, all the better name brand gaskets are fine, for the chevy intake gaskets, if the gaskets are correctly installed, it won,t matter, the brand you used if there designed for the application, but the FELPRO or perma -seal style gasket with the raised bead around the ports tends to seal minor imperfections slightly better

ok thanks. what does opening in the center gasket do that was on my intake do? because i notice the one on the link does not have the opening? is it for the coolent passage?

its for exhaust gasses to heat the intake for better cold weather fuel atomization, its not ideal to have it function on a performance combo
