I still have alot of time before the carb purchase, but I have been kicking this idea around for a bit...
https://www.holley.com/products/fue...sniper_efi/sniper_4bbl_tbi_kits/parts/550-512
It will cost me about $500 more than the e85 carb that I was going to have built, but some guys have been trying to persuade me into EFI.
Still on the fence about it, cause I know that there will be more additional pieces to add to this type of fuel system.
Not meant for E85 fuel also but a few tuning Pros have done it.
There are strong merits to using EFI.Yea I have been reading a few threads where other guys add 35% more fuel in the program for E85.
The 1250 system that I linked to ....says it will support up to 1250 hp. And 700hp N/A
EFI is all new to me... I see that this unit uses an 800cfm main body.
The Pro Systems carb has an 850 body. Patrick says that the way the new carbs today shear the fuel, I don't need the larger cfm carb like we did
in the old days.
Like I said... I'm just toying with this idea at the moment, and trying to get a better understanding of how the new stuff works.
Some of BBC and Pocho V8 guys like the SV-1 mono 1-bbl.https://prosystemsracing.com/
I REALLY like that SV1 carb! But the smallest it comes is 1150cfm.
It reminds me of a modern day Predator carb!
Want no smaller than 1050 cfm with your race truck my advice.
I was reading somewhere here that Grumpy made a piston ring installer
by using a piece of PVC coupler and spinning it on a lathe. I think I may try to make one as to save a few dollars.
Rick did that to make a ring squaring tool. If your piston does not have a dome, you can use that.
But every time you handle it, you risk dropping it. Make the PVC tool and drop that instead.
New Toilet brush will work !I thought that was a great idea for making that ring squaring tool!
I will be making one of these M&M RACING tools hopefully this weekend!
I would like to make a tapered piston and ring installer also, I have one of the old ones that require an allen wrench and are a P.I.T.A to use.
Picking up some plastic tubing this weekend to install on the rod threads also.
I have been slowly gather up some of the mundane items that are useful for the engine build.
My wife gave me a puzzled look when I was looking at toilet brushes in the store last week. I told her it was for washing all the sh%t off the
new block when I get it back. She smiled and told me that when i'm done with the motor I can bring the brush in the house and help clean some other things also.
