1965 Olds 425 V8 Hotrod Magazine November 1964

Someday Richard.
I paid $300 in 1998 & bought from a friend of mine.
Today the Grand Prix is worth more than my 1987 C4 Corvette Roadster & Faster.
Gains more attention too.

Monday night I had the Left Rear Wheel bearing Fail driving home from Joliet.
I fixed it along side of Interstate 80 in the Dark. Semi Trucks Zooming by the entire time just 4-5 feet away.
Some were going by 80-90 mph.
Suicide Repair Job.
Finished at 2am.

I have an extra 1963 Grand Prix Rear Differential.
Took it apart and Robbed the Drivers Rear axle shaft.
Got it Done.
A State 5.0 stopped by and watched me work & kept me company .
We know each other from years ago.
He Said No one knows what they are doing fixing cars.
He was amazed....also said people don't even know how to change a flat tire.

I repacked the Replacement axle bearing assembly with High Temp Moly Grease beforehand.

Tuesday I took apart the Passengers side rear axle shaft assembly.
Was going too.
I replaced the RH Axleshaft & Bearing with the Used RH axle shaft from the Spare Rear Diff.
Repacked that wheel bearing too.

I have A set of Mint NOS GM New Depature Wheel Bearings I dug up Tuesday.
I ordered the Special Wedding Band Lock rings from Mark Williams.
On thier way. Shipped.

Not Going through that shit again.

It was a Holy Pluck Night.
Still Alive here.
I don't Die Easy.
LOL.

Test Drove the Grand Prix.
A-ok again .
Should not complain.
The Wheel bearing lasted 53 years.
Changed ot both inner axle shaft gear oil seals too.
Stocked up prior.

Those Semi Trucks don't slow down for anyone.
Fickers.
I am sure A few I fixed myself.

A bumping & popping noise is heard and felt from the drivers seat.
Like a light tap in ass.
Feel nothing in the steering wheel.

Bad stuff.
Only the Very Best Mechanic can fix it along the side of Interstate 80 here in Illinois .
Must be Krazy too.

I removed the old remaining exhaust system from the 63 GP today.
Its too old and crappy to work with.
Has to be 20 -30 years old.
Amazingly its not rotted through.
Use the Main pipes as patterns for the new 2-1/2" inch dual exhaust system.
Old pipes are just 2.00 " & I think was stock on all 1963 Pontiacs other than SD-421 Race cars.

Ed says he knows a shop in Joliet area that Mandrel bends Exhaust pipes.
None left in my area with a Mandrel tubing bender.

I will have to make the exhaust system in 3 sections.
Main pipes to mufflers 1st.
Then the head pipes to main pipes.
Then the tail pipes to mufflers.

I wish Grumpy.
I don't think there is room for Dual 3 inch full round tubing.
Only way would be to use Oval 3" Inch or 4.00 " Oval tubing .
Not in the $ budget.
2-1/2" dual is.
And I have the Walker Super Dynomax 2-1/2 " mufflers.

I see your unfamiliar with Super Dynomax mufflers too.

Definite a Pontiac vs Chevy at times parts used.
Walker Super Dynomax Mufflers were used & Tested by Jim Hand of Pontiac Drag Racing fame in High Performance Pontiac Magazine 1988-2004.
Jim Raced and drove a 4400 lb Pontiac Station Wagon daily.
455 Powered. 11- second ride.
He used Walker Super Dynomax Mufflers 2-1/2".
Whisper quiet.
Exact same ET 1/4 mile performance as Flowmaster 2 -chambers Non Delta series that were released back in 1994.

Its a Problem finding P225/70R15 tires today used I found out recent.
The tire size was Original equipment size on 1976-81 Firebird Trans Am & Formula Firebirds with 15 X 7 aluminium Snow Flake wheels.
Birdman will recall.

Used that tire size for years on my 1963 Grand Prix.
Available new yet from Summit Racing .

Got a Flat again tonight or caught it early.
Pulled off of Route 80 & changed it with the spare.
A 45-46 year old Polyglass 14 Rim tire.
Made it home just fine.

Next on the list is New Tires for the Grand Prix.
Money is tight.
Back to work soon.

The Olds 425 Runs Flawless.
As good as a New Car.
Better. Massive Torque on tap.
