Fabrication of a 200-4R Transmission Mount

To answer Grumpy's question.....while waiting on parts for the 200-4R trans
I worked on the transmission mount that Bob fabricated for me and then
welded. I got the driveshaft loop drilled with 3/8" holes in 3/8" stainless,
now that did NOT go real fast!

This is what I started with before beginning to polish.



This is what I have now, about 33% finished polishing for this year. Besides
many people tell me it's under the car, no one is going to see it....Bull Shit!!!Well Rick it didn't have the black coating when I started, the rosebud heating tip did that when I bent it. It was cherry red when I bent it.

Ok, that makes sense. My other stainless doesn't have any black surface.

Actually the black is the impurities that rise to the top when extreme heat is applied. When you do the same with carbon steel, the impurities are mill scale and it usually flakes off.
