Planning a new 383 build that is now going to be a 400

ok, shot some pics of the oil pump pickup screen. I ended up with 7/16-1/2 , edges of pickup were 7/16 middle of screen 1/2, the edges of screen are kinda not well secured, so I think I am going to use some JB weld to secure it better.

I would like to send out a great Big Thank You to Indycars(Rick), for his help acquiring a TH 350 case for my mock up to fabricate the front and mid mounts for my engine and getting my laptop straightened out. I had a great time while I was in OKCity, drank a few beers, some wine, Acorn Squash, and Cherry Brandy. Oh yeah Brian we didn't have the chance to have any "Cherry Blossom!" But I did experience a seat of pants dyno episode.

Not a problem Bob, it was literally no sweat on my part. Just a little time!

I have no idea what you are talking about below ???????

why would you hook a LIGHTING ROD TO YOUR LAPTOP!

I now look back and realize that instead of copy and pasting a quote ,as I intended, I accidentally modified busterrns quoted post, and was pointing out ,that if you run a cable the way you originally posted

What I was going to do is run it out one of the windows in the living room and along the top of the house and to the gable of the garage"

it will in effect be a potential lighting rod for attracting a lighting strike under some conditions

I didn't do that Rick, I saw that out in the garage, somebody altered my post.

It wouldn't do anything on original startup, laptop is fine just couldn't pick up IP address, now its working okay.

Your Nova Custom oil pan turned out nice Bob.
Old farm houses like mine have Lightning Rods up on the Roof.
Even on the garage here.
Never been struck with Lighting here yet.

If you can find a Decent Holley HP Used for $500 or less & rebuild it.
They work nice Bob.
Watch Craigslist in your area daily.

Cherry Blossom & T-bucket + Rick intoxicated a Bad Idea.
He gets Nutsy then for sure.

Hey Rick, what are the biscuits you used on your front engine mounts? I am planning for the fab of my mounts just wondering, get them ahead of time and have them for the mockup.

It's working now, that's what counts I suppose!

There you go again Grumpy, playing with Bob's brain! There is NOT much there
to play with, should be a short event! :D

Okay, I have the front engine mount cradle that I bought on fleabay, hahahahaha! But its a great starting point and with my particular skills with metal, I can modify it into a perfect front mount and mid mount assembly. Thanks to Indycars I have a TH 350 case to mock it up with, and a pc in my geerage to show all what is going on. All the stuff is done with the oil pan and windage screen, so the rotating assembly is soon to be balanced and ready for final assembly. One more thing on the bottom end, thats to figure out the levels for my oil pan, again thanks to Indycars I have a process to follow to do get that done.

I will have to look when I get home around 5 pm, but I think they are made by Energy Suspension.

The biscuits for my front engine mount are Energy Suspension #99148G, they are
considered a Universal Bump Stop.

Hey Rick, don't worry about not calling the other day, I was busy and sleeping all day that day anyway, I am not losing anything without the sound on the laptop. I will be okay until I get it fixed.

Okay, did the oil pan 7 quart and 6 quart checks to mark the dipstick. Here are some pics to show it:

This the oil pan leveled the long axis.

This the oil pan level across, I placed a piece of 2 inch angle iron to set the level on.

This the oil pan full with 7 quarts in it, I did a 6 quart measure also. 1 quart low turned out to 4 inches even off the surface of the oil pan. so I will add the thickness of the pan gasket for marking the dipstick and the same with the full marking also, which turned out to be 4 3/8 inches. The angles I held the camera at shows the bubble to be not centered but it was. I noticed that after I put them on the post. I assure you they are level.

youll certainly be able to run 7 quarts, but remember the engine almost never sits level theres almost always an angle in the drive line where the rear of the engines a bit lower where the sump is at the rear being lower by design, but keep in mind 1.5-to-2 quarts are circulating thru the upper engine while its actually running so the sump levels even lower during its operation.
btw look's like you did a really nice job on the oil pan/ windage tray fabrication
