Electrical Wiring for a TBucket

Finished the right side now I need to do the other side. To get at the other side
I will have to pull the staples holding the upholstery in.

I went ahead and painted the right side with Rust-Oleum Sunrise Red #7762. Figured
that was better than bare patch, from 15 feet you can hardly tell. Good enough
until I get ready to repaint the whole body, maybe next winter.

If you guys would post more, I wouldn't have to post these boring photos!!! ;)

I have over 3,000 posts here on Grumpys site.
About 7,000-8,000 posts under both user names on DC.
About 4,000 posts on CFC4.

If no one post its because we did not find a problem yet :).
We need something to fix haha !

I'm expectantly, waiting to see what the new angled wind shield looks like when its installed, on that t-bucket and have you get some track times, driving the t-bucket. then we can discuss your options and work on both the engine tune and suspension set up,!
and I'm wondering if your going to think about, discuss, plan, acquire the correct components, and build and install a BBC engine in the chevelle, you recently acquired?
BTW RICK YOUR PHOTO SKILL ARE FRANKLY AMAZING THANK YOU!

We are holding our breath waiting to see windshield installed :).
Now, its the first time i hear about that Chevelle. look interesting, is that some kind of top secret info? :D

I still have the other side to do now, I get to do it all over again!!!

TBucket is not drivable now with half the wiring out of the car.

The 65 Chevelle will most likely be a 6 cylinder for a long time to come. Any extra
money goes towards the TBucket.

That chevelle look neat.
If it was mine and on a budget, id swap a junkyard BBC into it and beat the hell out of it :).

The least expensive way to go fast in the Chevelle is drop in a BBC 454.
Pontiac 400-455.
Olds 403, 425, 455.
Stock 8.2 10-bolt the weak link and 3-speed trans.

Can't drag race the T-bucket too long legal on Dragstrips without a roll cage welded in.

Got the 4way flashers figured out and I can do it with one of the switches in the
switch panel , they are SPDT switches. Aren't diodes wonderful, they sure helped
out in this situation.

Thanks John!

It's my first time doing an electrical schematic and just doing it on the fly.
Visio makes it easy to move objects around, when you drag an object to a
new location the wires move with it.

Below is the latest schematic for the "Power, Charging & Ignition Circuits". Yes I
decided to add the ignition circuit, I had the room and ignition is pretty simple/small.

I removed the diode to the alternator for now. Below is what I was told, if it's
not right it will be easy to add later. What do you think Mathieu?

About the diode; I could have been clearer. If you use the ACC post for
switched power, and put the ignition on the IGN post, then you don't need the
diode. The diode is just to keep power from getting from the alternator to the
ignition, causing the motor to keep running. I put all the things needed to run
the motor (ignition, EFI, electric fuel and water pumps) on the IGN post, and
everything else on the ACC post. This way you can play the radio, turn on lights,
etc without powering up all the stuff needed to drive.

I purchased 3 relay modules off of Ebay, I expect to use only 2 and one will be
a backup. The modules are 120mm x 72.5mm, should save me some space
under the seat vs individual relays mounted in a panel or screwed to a board.

Really starting to gear up for pulling wire, so I bought a Deutsch connector kit
from WireCare. Believe I will get crimper and removal tools kit from Amazon.

Rick, usually you have the alternator light to the ignition power not to the acc power.. dont want that lamp on all the time when just listening the radio, its going to be annoying and a waste of battery power.. obviously. just like with the fuel pump and fans.
You can use a 1N4001

I see what you are saying Mathieu. Could the idiot lights be LED, that
would be a very small drain on the battery then? That way I could have
my cake and eat to.

Yes, just add a 1k ohm 1/4 watt resistor in serie with the led. current draw will be 10-15mA.
We try to run the led at no more that 2/3 of there rated power, and resistor below 75%.
say with engine running with 15v(rounding up the numbers on the high side..)
15-2V drop from the led = 13volt.
13v / 1k resistor = 13mA.
most led are 20ma, 2/3 of that is 13.2ma so we are fine.
The resistor now have to dissipate 0.169 watt(13v x 13ma). thats below 75% of a 1/4 watt. if that make sense.
With the engine not running, batt at 12.8v.. thats about 10.8mA of current draw.

hey guys, I am at Rick's place, rode up yesterday on my Harley. I have been planning on coming up to deliver Rick's front engine mount and kept being put off by something or another. Well, I started my trek yesterday and it was a lil cool, then it got worse the closer I got to Yukon. I sent Rick a text and asking where the hell the rain came from, I arrived with my leather jacket and chaps sopping wet. I cleaned up my Harley before I left to show Rick all the upgrades I have made and its all covered up in road dirt now from the rain.
